FAQ

Should I fill out your 'quote request' form before we speak on the phone?

Yes! I would really appreciate it. In order to assist you, I need to ask a few questions first, and having it in writing is the best way for me to absorb information. I am asking specific questions that I need to know so that when we speak on the phone, our time is best utilized.

I need to know more about you & your project! Before we speak in person, please take the time to fill out this no-obligation quote request form for web design, copywriting and consulting services.

What are your rates?

My rates are competitive, and based on professional standards. If you'd like to discuss my rates, please take the time to fill out the quote request form, so I know more about you + your project. Thank you!

I've noticed that copywriters charge a lot for their work. Is it really $1-3 a word for SEO website copy?

Yes. As a good copywriter, I have worked for less, and a lot more. Hiring a good copywriter is an investment towards the success of your business!

What is the benefit to outsourcing to a good copywriter, rather than in-house?

You save time and money! Plus, it’s also good for the environment!

I want to hire you, how does the process work?

I like to keep it simple. All meetings and interactions are done virtually via phone and email. We begin with an initial consultation, via email or on the phone, in which we discuss your ideas, needs and time frame of your project. When you hire me, I will ask that you send via email as much information as possible about you, your business and the project.

The best way for me to fully grasp your project and understand what your needs are, is via email. Any content that needs to be edited or rewritten, needs to be in text form (WORD attachment).

I need a website, can you help?

Yes! I love to design websites from scratch, or take an existing website and turn it from dull to brilliant! I specialize in website design, and offer a worry-free website maintenance package to my clients. From A-Z, I am here to help! Read more

We'd like to hire you on retainer. Is this possible?

Yes! This is a great way to enjoy the collaborative effort! To hire me on retainer, there is a $1,500.00 minimum required before commencement of the project. Once my time exceeds this amount, you will be invoiced for the same amount or less, depending on the time frame of the task.

What is a retainer?

A retainer is an advance payment, which pays for my time. It is due before commencement of your project. I often work on retainer, as most of my projects are quoted well over $1,500.00

Once the hours of the retainer are exhausted, you will be invoiced with a second retainer, for the next installment on the project, and so on. In some cases, depending on the time frame of the task, and other factors, you will be invoiced for full payment upfront. Once hired and payment is received, the retainer is non-refundable.

Can you optimize my existing website copy?

Yes! SEO (search engine optimization) is instrumental in your website’s success! Just because you have a website on the Internet, it doesn’t mean anyone even knows you exist.

Are you a Consultant?

Yes! As a creative Internet Consultant, I offer creative consulting so you receive valuable insight and innovative suggestions for your business, marketing materials and web site, to put you in the right direction. I am here to assist you in solving a particular problem, develop a new strategy and to facilitate your online and marketing goals!

I need to talk to you about my project and want advice about how you can help me ... will this cost me money?

Yes, of course! You wouldn't think of going into a lawyer's office, and talking to him about your dreams and goals and ideas, and then walking out without paying for his or her valuable time, right? Professionals know what to expect of each other, and consulting is no different.

As a designer, consultant and copywriter, my time is valuable. Any time that I spend with you on your project, whether in the initial stages or in the middle of the project, is billable time.

We would like to hire you, but we’re on a budget. Can you still help us?

Yes! Decide what your budget is and let me know so I may determine how I can help you. Remember that hiring a writer means you are making an investment in your business.

So many people say, “I can write this myself”, and then wonder why it’s not effective online or in print. Hiring a good copywriter means you get what you pay for. The return on your investment is what your focus should be on.

What does organic SEO mean to you?

Organic search engine optimization is a natural approach to optimizing your website's written content and html language. At Imagine Write, we use an ethical approach to SEO, which means our results are achieved via authentic techniques and strategies. We write original and creative SEO copy, which means a integration of content. We always come from a standpoint of ... integrity.

What experience do you have as a web designer?

Self taught in website and graphic design, I've been online since 1999.  My first website had a meager beginning, that's for sure! But as time went on, I began to evolve as an artist. Blessed with a natural eye for marketing, I realized I knew what looked good + what worked effectively online.

One person said, "I love your website! Can you create mine?" I began to build websites for other people. And from there, it was one site to the next, and to the next. I have created several websites for clients, as well as for my own freelance endeavors.

Is a deposit required?

A deposit is required upfront, before I can begin on your project. In some cases, full payment is required upfront. Once hired, and the deposit is paid, fees are non-refundable.

How do I pay you?

My preferred form of payment is cheques sent via Xpresspost or priority courier. Please make cheque out to Leanne Campbell

There are other payment options as well [Pay Pal, HyperWallet, etc]. To discuss the best possible payment plan, please contact me today!

When do I pay you the remainder of my invoice?

Final payment is due immediately upon your receipt of the copy [before revisions], or website.

How do you invoice me?

I send all invoices for deposits and payments to you via email as a WORD attachment. Canadian clients pay in Canadian funds, US + International pay in US Funds.

Do I have to pay any extra taxes or fees?

Canadian clients will also pay 5% GST.

And if you've been a terror to deal with, I will add an extra maintenance fee. <grin>

I changed my mind about the project. Can I have my money back?

All payments paid before commencement of the project are non-refundable. If you wish to cancel for any reason, the project will be stopped and you will be billed for the work that has already been accomplished.

Is the copy you sent to me considered the first draft?

The copy I submit to you by the deadline is considered a polished product. I have already been through the editing process several times, and it is written based on the information and direction you gave me.

You sent me the copy, now what?

Open communication between us is crucial. Once you receive the copy, you will need to make the final payment and review the copy.

What if I want some changes made?

If any revisions are necessary, they are made promptly! A revision request may be made within the following 10 working days of you receiving the copy, while the project is still fresh in my mind. If I don't hear from you in that time frame, I will assume you are happy.

One set of revisions are included in your initial quote, not based on a major change or new direction.

If I live in New York, can I hire you?

Yes! The beauty of having a digital office means that I can work with clients worldwide. We can effectively interact via phone conference, instant messaging (GoogleTalk™), and email.

How you can write about my industry?

As a professional copywriter, research is a vital part of what I do. Before I even begin writing, I spend considerable time looking into your company and industry. I love to learn!

What if I need my existing copy re-written. It’s just .. blah! Can you do that?

Yes! I often get asked to edit & polish content. The editing process is often subtle, but effective. I edit content that is boring, stuffy or mechanical, and create interesting, compelling and focused copy!

What is a email drip campaign? And do I need one?

An Email Drip Campaign is a succession of emails automatically sent to your clients on a scheduled basis, in order to effectively inspire them! Emails are prepared in advance and go out at timed intervals until the series is completed.

If you're in business, then yes, it's a great idea! As a copywriter, I am able to write the content for these emails.

Do I own all rights to the copy?

Once you receive the copy, and payment is made in full, you own all rights to the copy. I respectfully reserve the right to include a copy of the content in my portfolio(s), and to use it on my web site(s) as I see fit.

I'm curious about why you use an old typewriter for your branding ... do you actually use it?

Do I use it for work? No. I type as fast as I think, and there's no way it could keep up with me! <smile>

I often get asked about the Remington Rand typewriter. I bid on it at a local auction, and won the bid for $45! It was the obvious choice to use as the branding for Imagine/Write. Why? Because to me, the imagery of the Remington Rand signifies an old school approach to writing. Although an antique, the typewriter makes me think of being authentic.

There is so much history behind it too! As a woman, I am very proud to remember the women who changed the face of our economy ... with a typewriter! The invention of the typewriter started a new industry, creating incredible economic & social changes! In the year 1870, the female employment rate was only 4.5%.  And by the year 1930 it was 95.6%!! My model is a Remington Rand Deluxe Model 5, and it originally sold for $54.50.
